The garment industry, one of the most profitable and diverse sectors of the economy, is also among the highest paid.
It earned $1.7 trillion in revenue in 2016, a whopping 7.2 percent increase over the previous year.
The average salary for a factory worker in the industry was $1,700, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The industry is also home to some of the biggest companies in the country.
For example, Gap, J.C. Penney, Urban Outfitters, and Under Armour are among the top ten apparel manufacturers in the world.

For instance, Target, a division of Walmart, owns clothing labels like J. Crew, H&M, and Forever 21.
Other American brands include Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Many other American brands also sell apparel.
